I would like to develop an open source application using an external and cheap TOF sensor to improve the liability of SLAM algorithms.
My questions is :
Is it possible with artoolkit to use Depthmap data to improve the AR experience ?
I have several TOF sensors, and my goal is to use them to do 3D modeling and Augmented reality. today there are several devices witch are using TOF sensor but only the new one, what if I can plug my sensors on any devices to make good surface detection ?
Do you have any idea how I can do such a thing ?
I saw that ARCore from google is using depth16 data right now, what about ARtoolkit ?

Currently there's no usage of any depth-related information in any of the tracking. There have been numerous demos made which used depth information to do more sophisticated interaction post-tracking. Some of this work is quite a long time ago! See e.g.
